Starkey Omega AI+: what changed, and what to ask before you upgrade

Starkey announced Omega AI+ on October 1, 2026. See what is new, which figures are Starkey's own and what to ask at a fitting in Westchester.

Concentric rings around a gold plus sign, illustrating the next step in the Starkey Omega AI hearing aid platform, Omega AI+

Starkey announced a new flagship on October 1, 2026. It is called Omega AI+, and it builds on the Omega AI that Starkey released a year earlier. If you wear Starkey now, or you hold a quote for a Starkey pair, the headline raises a fair question: is it worth waiting, or worth paying more?

This page is for Westchester readers who want the facts without the sales language. It lists what changed, which numbers come from Starkey, what is still unknown and what to ask at a fitting. HearAdvisor has not yet published results for Omega AI+. The coverage we read gives no US ship date and no Starkey price.

“A new chip is news. The better question is what it does for your hearing, and whether anyone has measured it.”

What is different from Omega AI

Starkey and the trade press name six changes. The first is a new chip, the G4 Gen AI Neuro Processor. The second is a set of four neural networks that run together. The third is a compressor that a neural network guides. The fourth is an Edge Mode that can stay on. The fifth is sleep tracking, and the sixth is an alert when you leave your hearing aids behind. Starkey reports that rechargeable battery life stays the same as Omega AI, at up to 51 hours for the receiver-in-canal model without streaming.

Does a faster chip help in a restaurant?

Starkey says the G4 processes sound up to 2.7 times faster than competing hearing aids that use neural processing. That is a Starkey benchmark. The coverage does not name the competitors or the test conditions, and the two reports we read describe the comparison a little differently. Speed on a bench is not the same as clearer speech at a loud table. Treat the number as a reason to try the aid in a noisy room, not as a promise.

The compressor and Edge Mode

Compression decides how a hearing aid handles loud and soft sounds. Fast settings help with speech, and slow settings sound smoother. Starkey says its new DNN Dual Compressor lets a neural network pick between the two as the sound changes. HearingTracker's comparison table lists the dual compressor at Level 24 only. Edge Mode is the Starkey program for hard rooms. Starkey says it can now stay on from the moment you switch the aids on, and HearingTracker lists that option at Level 24 as well. Starkey also reports a redesigned feedback system. In its own tests, gain before feedback rose by 11 dB overall. Ask your audiologist how any of this changes the whistling you hear today.

Which styles, and what the batteries do

HearingTracker lists nine Omega AI+ styles: mRIC R, RIC RT, RIC 312, CIC, ITC R, ITE R, IIC NW, CIC NW and CIC R NW. Starkey says its DNN 360 directional system now reaches rechargeable ITC and ITE models. If you want a small custom aid, this is the most practical change in the launch. Starkey quotes up to 51 hours for the RIC RT and about 42 hours for mRIC and custom rechargeable models, all without streaming. HearingTracker adds 45 hours with streaming for the RIC RT, and a 10-minute quick charge that gives up to 3 hours. Starkey rates rechargeable models IP68. No runtime is stated for the RIC 312.

Sleep tracking and the left-behind alert

Sleep Quality Tracking uses sensors in supported receiver-in-canal models. It gives a nightly score, time awake, light and deep sleep, and your body position. Starkey says it is available in the United States and is not a diagnostic or screening tool for sleep apnea. If you suspect a sleep problem, see your doctor. The My Starkey app also warns you when you walk away without your hearing aids. Fall detection, activity tracking, balance tools and respiratory-rate monitoring carry over from earlier Starkey platforms.

Auracast and phone connections

Omega AI+ supports Auracast and Bluetooth LE Audio on compatible wireless models, with an Auracast assistant in the My Starkey app. Auracast only helps where a venue or a home TV broadcasts it, and few do today. Omega AI gained Auracast earlier in 2026, so the coverage does not show what is new here. None of the articles we read states whether the aids have a telecoil. If you rely on a loop in a house of worship or a theater, ask for the exact model and check it before you buy.

What it may cost

Starkey has not published a price in the coverage we read. HearingTracker lists starting prices per pair of $3,998 for the Premium level (Level 24), $3,798 for Advanced (Level 20) and $3,198 for Standard (Level 16). It adds that it would expect top-level mRIC styles to cost $5,000 to $7,000 per pair, which is its own guess and not a confirmed figure. Cost also depends on the care that comes with the aids. We give a written quote after your hearing test.

What no one has measured yet

HearingTracker says HearAdvisor will test Omega AI+ and that it will report the results. Until then, the performance claims come from Starkey. Omega AI, the earlier platform, earned a HearAdvisor grade of A. HearingTracker warns that this grade is not a result for Omega AI+. The table lists the main claims and what each one lacks.

Should you upgrade from Omega AI or Edge AI?

If your current aids are verified and working, a new chip is not a reason by itself to replace them. The better reasons are a change in your hearing, a style that no longer suits you, or a wish for a feature such as sleep tracking. If you have never had real-ear measurement on your current aids, that visit may do more for you than a new platform. A hearing aid fitting that is measured at your eardrum matters more than the chip generation.

Questions to ask at your fitting

Which Omega AI+ models and levels can I have, and which features come at which level? Does my model have a telecoil? How long does a charge last with my streaming habits? What does the trial period look like, and what happens if I return the aids? What will I pay, and what follow-up care is included? Will you measure the fit at my eardrum, and how many visits does that take? Bring your current aids and your last hearing test to the visit.

How we would approach it at Audiology Associates of Westchester

We do not start with a brand. We start with your hearing test and your hardest rooms, then choose the aid that serves you. A Starkey aid may be on that list, or it may not. See our pages on Starkey hearing aids and Starkey Edge AI, and our roundup of the best AI hearing aids for fall 2026. If you hold a quote, a hearing aid second opinion can compare it with your own test. Book at our Harrison or Somers office. We will tell you when we can fit and demonstrate Omega AI+.

Common questions

What is Starkey Omega AI+?

It is the newest generation of Starkey's flagship hearing aid platform, announced on October 1, 2026. It adds a G4 processor, four neural networks, a neural compressor and sleep tracking on supported models.

Can I get Omega AI+ in Westchester now?

The coverage we read gives no US ship date or regional rollout. Call us and we will tell you when we can fit and demonstrate it. Use the notify box below for one email when we know more.

Is the sleep tracking a test for sleep apnea?

No. Starkey says Sleep Quality Tracking is not a diagnostic or screening tool for sleep apnea or any sleep disorder. See your doctor if you think you have a sleep problem.

Does Omega AI+ have a telecoil?

None of the articles we read says so. If a telecoil matters to you, ask for the exact model and have us confirm it before you decide.

Is there independent testing yet?

Not for Omega AI+. HearAdvisor is expected to test it. The grade of A that Omega AI earned should not be read as a result for the new platform.

How much does Omega AI+ cost?

Starkey has not published a price in the coverage we read. HearingTracker lists starting prices per pair of $3,998, $3,798 and $3,198 for the three levels. We give a written quote after your hearing test.
